Complete Tape 1 Walkthrough

This is the spoiler-heavy Tape 1 route. If you only need binds, use Spielanleitung. If you only need stealth, use Wie man überlebt. If you want a one-screen checklist, use the quest order tool. The embedded video is a full Act 1 + Act 2 clear of the original layout; the 2026 Revamp moved set dressing, not the story spine.

Act 1 - The Mall

Ride in with Mother and the siblings. Explore. Talk. When the story points you at the arcade obby, finish it. That knockout is the cut to Act 2. Optional: memorize Karte names so later objectives are not a vocabulary test.

Act 2 - The Blackout, quest by quest

1. Filip: flashlight and first keys

Filip wakes you, explains Mother, and gives a flashlight plus vent keys toward BCPenney and the food court. Go downstairs. Do not sprint the first hallway. Saferoom first, sightseeing later.

2. Gavin: the glizzy

Gavin is in the BCPenney saferoom. He wants a glizzy. On Normal it has lived on the BCPenney reception table in later builds; on Hard it has been spotted at the hot-dog stand. Confirm on Gegenstände. You can eat it to refill hunger before the hand-in if the item still allows it. Return to Gavin. He thinks he is handing you BloxStop keys. They will not work.

3. Blood trail to David

Follow the blood in the vents to a small room. David is there; Shai did not make it. Mother took David’s arm. He gives you a taser. Stun Mother, grab the arm, bring it back. This is the first skill check. See Wie man überlebt for the stun window. David then explains how to deal with Fatback and hands basement keys.

4. Dylan / basement fuel

The basement and cafeteria fuel-can loop is where most wipes happen. Mother camps the hallway. Do not take the obvious corridor on the way back - vent doors can be one-way. Players report a bathroom stall path: girls’ room (she camps less), through the stall into the boys’ room, then a vent a few feet away. Fuel cans are physical pickups; HUD count can glitch (people have seen negative cans). Pick up until the objective completes, not until the number looks pretty.

5. Fatback

Fatback is the large ally the story builds toward. Befriend / feed / complete his step as the HUD states after David’s advice. The later cutscene people call “Fatback vs Mom” is the payoff. Do not skip his quest to rush the code; the route gates you.

6. The door code and Filip (Hard extra)

You will need a door code for management. On Normal, gather it from the environment / NPC path the HUD marks. On Schwerer Modus, Filip adds an extra objective before the code is usable. Do not copy a YouTube number from 2025 - codes can be per-run or per-build. Read the in-world digits.

7. Management, Amari, security

Enter the management room with the code. Amari has a quest beat (often a fetch or escort-style objective in the darker offices). Then security room and manager room. These interiors are tight. Flashlight off at doors, on only to read labels. The hiding-spot tier list matters more here than in the food court because lockers are closer together and patrols turn faster.

8. Elevator, rooftop, ending

After the late cutscene you ride a service elevator with survivors (Ashley and Amari in the story wrap) to the rooftop. Stay with the group. The ending awards The End..? badge. Hard Mode has its own badge line. If the elevator prompt does not appear, you skipped a manager-room interact - backtrack, do not reset the whole tape yet.

Co-op notes

Split roles: one watcher on Mother, one runner on items. Do not all taser. Do not all hide in one locker. If a friend dies, they can revive into the same objective; call the current HUD line so they do not run Gavin’s glizzy after you already turned it in.

When you are stuck

  • Objective still on Gavin: you are not ready for fuel.
  • Invisible wall after the arm: a known bug in older builds; rejoin or reset the vent.
  • Management code: Filip’s Hard extra may be incomplete.
  • Always keep a ticket from Codes for the fuel loop.

When Tape 1 is done, read the ending page for elevator and badges, Spieler if you care who lived, and Updates for what Lotus is supposed to be next.
