Mall Game How to Survive Mother

Stealth rules, sound rules, and the bathroom connector that skips the camped hallway.

Last updated:

This page is the stealth companion to the Komplettlösung. It assumes you already know the Quest-Reihenfolge. If you are lost, read that first - this page is about what to do when she is in the wing.

The freeze prompt

A “do not move” pop-up appears when she can see you. Both thumbs off on mobile. No stick drift, no “I will just peek.” Stillness works. Movement breaks it and she grabs you.

On PC: stop moving the instant the prompt appears. She is looking at you.

What she reacts to

  • Sight - freeze prompt means stop
  • Sound - sprint, footsteps (especially in co-op), dropped items
  • Light - flashlight in a corridor
  • Bad cover - she is taller than planters

She does not care about your Tix. Tickets rewind a grab; they do not slow her.

Sound discipline in co-op

A 50-player server is a sound disaster. Footsteps stack. If you are learning Act 2, play with two or three - not a full public server. One person watches Mother, one runs items. Nobody sprints in the concourse.

The bathroom connector

The camped cafeteria corridor is the most common wipe point. The intended skip:

  1. Go to the girls’ room.
  2. Through the stall into the boys’ room.
  3. A vent a few feet away leads to a safe path.

This route is quieter and faster than the main hallway. Practice it on Normal so you can do it without looking at a map.

Hiding

S-tier: full lockers. Enter completely. Do not half-enter.

A-tier: bathroom stall connector (above), arcade interior.

C-tier: crouch in the open (it is a move state, not a hide).

F-tier: planters, the cafeteria corridor, half-entered lockers.

Full rankings: hiding-spot tier list.

Flashlight rules

Off in long halls. On at pads, labels, and office interiors. The blackout is dark; the flashlight is not a comfort tool, it is a reading tool. Using it as a comfort tool is how she follows the beam back to you.

When to sprint

Only in confirmed empty wings. When you hear her footsteps, crouch-walk. When you see the freeze prompt, freeze. When you are in the bathroom connector, move fast but quietly. When you are in the lobby, sprint all you want - Act 1 has no Mother.

Hunger and freeze

Low hunger causes a fidget that breaks freeze prompts. Eat pizza before David’s arm and the fuel loop. A panic-sprint because you are hungry is how most runs end on the taser section.

Mother’s patrol patterns

Understanding Mother’s patrol behavior is the foundation of all survival in Mall Game. She follows a semi-predictable loop through the mall, but her behavior changes when she is hunting. When she hears a sound or spots a player, she breaks her patrol and moves directly toward that stimulus. This means that sprinting through a quiet wing is safe until you make noise, at which point she redirects. Her turn speed is faster than her patrol speed, so a quick direction change catches players who rely on timing her patrol rather than reading her active state. The freeze prompt appears when she has direct line of sight to you and is actively tracking - at this point she has already committed to investigating your position. Holding still gives her time to lose interest or look away; moving makes you a confirmed target.

Komplettlösung for the quest chain. Versteck-Plätze for the full tier list. Quest-Reihenfolge as a silent checklist.

First ten minutes survival priority order

Step 1 — find a saferoom and learn its door sound. Step 2 — pick up a weapon (taser > melee > nothing). Step 3 — eat once, even if not hungry. Step 4 — locate the nearest vent and which way it runs. Step 5 — note where the bathroom connector is. Memorize these in order; most wipes come from players chasing objectives before securing their immediate area.

Reading Mother audio cues

Mother has three audio tells: a low hum when she is in patrol, a sharp inhale when she has line-of-sight on a player, and a stomp when she is mid-grab. If you hear the inhale, break line-of-sight immediately. If you hear the stomp, you have ~0.8 seconds to dodge-roll sideways. Audio-first players survive longer than vision-first players because Mother often closes distance faster than her model appears.

Stamina and chase tactics

Never sprint more than 4 seconds straight. The stagger penalty will lock you in place mid-dodge, which is a guaranteed grab. If Mother is closing, sprint-burst for 3 seconds, walk for 2, repeat. Drop an item behind you as a distraction if you need a window — she will investigate the sound. The bathroom connector (girls’ room → stall → boys’ room → vent) is the safest skip around the camped cafeteria hallway and worth memorizing.
